Palace Station is a part of the Station Casinos group. It is located just across I-15 from the Las Vegas Strip on Sahara Avenue. That puts it just west of SLS Las Vegas and Stratosphere. Palace Station opened on July 1, 1976.
Palace Station has a large casino for a locals joint. It has 84,000 square feet of casino space. There are 1,053 hotel rooms. Palace Station has seen better days. It is a low end casino in a seedy neighborhood. While it is close to the Las Vegas Strip, you would never want to walk to it from there. One of the worst neighborhoods in Las Vegas is between the tourist corridor and Palace Station.
Palace Station may be best known as the site of O.J. Simpson’s robbery of a sports memorabilia seller for which Simpson is now serving time in a Nevada prison. When that is a casino’s claim to fame, you know it is in a tough neighborhood.
Palace Station Tables and Games
There are 16 blackjack tables at Palace Station. All hit soft 17 and are on the main casino floor. The high limit area only contains slots and video poker.
There is one single deck blackjack table. It has $5 to $500 limits. Players can double down on any two cards but not after splitting. Blackjack pays 6-5. It is the only short pay blackjack table at Palace Station. The house edge is 1.6%.

Boarding Pass for Frequent Blackjack Players
All Station Casinos use the Boarding Pass players club. Palace Station players can expect a free bet equal to their average bet. The offer is available one time per week. The voucher may be printed on the Boarding Pass kiosks located throughout Palace Station.
Weekends offer promotions where players earn tickets into drawings that give away a combined millions between all Station Casinos properties. The kiosks also regularly offer games where players choose a box that awards an instant prize that may be a free buffet or Boarding Pass points. It is extremely difficult to get anything more than a free buffet from playing blackjack. Green chip players may be offered a host.
What’s Different?
Palace Station offers $5 blackjack tables throughout its property. All but one pays 3-2 on a natural. The rules are decent, especially for a $5 game. Palace Station has far more baccarat tables than blackjack tables. In fact, a majority of its tables are in the Asian games pit. This is very unusual for a Las Vegas casino.
The Inside View
Palace Station used to offer re-split aces in its blackjack games. It no longer does that. Station Casinos pulled re-split aces from all of its games in 2015. At the same time, Station Casinos started sweating card counters like they never have before. Comps also degraded substantially. Palace Station is fine for a low limit grinder. Serious players will want to look elsewhere for better rules and comps.
The highlights of Palace station beyond blackjack include 10 times craps and 100% or better video poker. Blackjack players may want to consider giving action at these games to increase the chances of getting comps.
