Gold Coast was the first casino built to cater exclusively to the Las Vegas locals market. It is located on Flamingo Road about one mile west of the Las Vegas Strip. Gold Coast opened on December 21, 1986. It hosts 711 hotel rooms and 87,000 square feet of casino space. Gold Coast was built by Coast Casinos. It later became a Boyd Gaming property after Coast Casinos was acquired in 2004.
While Gold Coast is considered a locals casino, it still draws a large number of tourists. It specifically caters to tourists from Asia. This includes a vast selection of baccarat, Pai Gow Tiles and Pai Gow Poker tables. It also has several dining options that cater to these tourists that are open late to account for the jet lag.
Gold Coast spreads great games at blackjack and other tables. The slot and video poker payouts are also above average, especially for a property located so close to the Las Vegas Strip.
Gold Coast Tables and Games
There are 20 blackjack tables at Gold Coast. All hit soft 17.
There are 15 double deck blackjack tables. Players may double down before and after splitting. Bet limits are $5 to $1,000. The house edge is 0.4% at these tables.

BConnected for Frequent Blackjack Players
BConnected is the players club used by Gold Coast and all other Boyd Gaming casinos. In Las Vegas, these include Suncoast, The Orleans, Main Street Station, The Cal, Fremont and Sam’s Town. Blackjack players that give any level of decent action will get free meals and maybe even hotel rooms. Mailers may also include offers from other Boyd Gaming properties. Points earned at Gold Coast may be used at any other Boyd Gaming resort.
What’s Different?
Players will find $5 double deck blackjack dealt as a pitch where players may double down before and after splitting. This is a great deal. There is no reason to ever play the shoe games with this one available.
The Inside View
Gambling throughout Gold Coast is above average. Blackjack is no different. The $5 double deck is one of my favorite games in Las Vegas since you can double down after the split. It takes $25 to get this game on the Strip and at Caesars properties you still cannot get double down after splitting.
Comps are extremely easy to earn at Gold Coast. Make sure to get the BConnected card and give it to the dealer when sitting down at the table. You may want to mix it up with some full pay video poker, especially on point multiplier days. If you need a break from gambling there is a bowling alley on the property. Palms is located across the street. It hosts a movie theater.
Ping Pang Pong is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Las Vegas. There are also low price quick serve options. Blackjack players should be able to get comps at any food outlet at Gold Coast with any serious action.
Hotel rates at Gold Coast are very cheap. A shuttle connects guests to the Strip. For this reason, Gold Coast is a popular hangout and lodging option for poker players during the World Series of Poker, as well as those looking for a great value in Las Vegas.
