Green Valley Ranch was the first major resort in Henderson. It is located on I-215 southeast of the Las Vegas Strip on the way to downtown Henderson. Green Valley Ranch is owned by Station Casinos. It opened on December 18, 2001.
There are 490 hotel rooms at Green Valley Ranch. It is owned by Station Casinos. Green Valley Ranch is a popular locals casino that was an upgrade from the nearby Sunset Station, also owned by Station Casinos. There are many amenities one would expect from a locals resort, including a poker room, bingo hall, sports book, movie theater, spa and food court.
Green Valley Ranch Tables and Games
There are 23 blackjack tables at Green Valley Ranch. It is one of just two Station Casinos with a high limit salon. Red Rock is the other one.
Five of these blackjack tables are in the high limit salon. The other 18 are on the main casino floor. Every blackjack game at Green Valley Ranch pays 3-2 on a natural.
There are two blackjack games on the main casino floor at Green Valley Ranch. One is a $5 to $1,000 six-deck shoe. Players may double down on any two cards and after splitting. Surrender is also permitted. The dealer hits soft 17. The house edge is 0.55%.
The other blackjack game in the main floor is a double deck. Players may double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. Bet limits are $10 to $1,000. The house edge is 0.4%.
There are two games in the high limit salon. Both have bet limits of $50 to $1,000. Players may request higher limits and reserved tables.
The double deck game has the same rules as the one on the main casino floor, which includes double down before and after splitting, but not re-split aces as it once did. The dealer even hits soft 17.
The better game is the six-deck shoe. Players may double down on any two cards and after splitting. Surrender is also permitted, but not re-split aces. This game is different from the game on the main floor because the dealer stands on all 17’s. The house edge is 0.35%.
Boarding Pass for Frequent Blackjack Players
Green Valley Ranch uses the Station Casinos Boarding Pass for its players club. Comps for playing blackjack are tough to receive. Players will get mailers for match play based on the average bet per hour. These offers are available one time per week. The free match bet is printed from the Boarding Pass kiosks. Players should swipe their Boarding Pass before sitting at a table to receive the voucher.
Higher volume players will receive free hotel offers. It is much easier to get free hotel rooms, and meals for that matter, from slots and video poker. Players often receive four times points on video poker and seven times on slots. The regular point multiplier is three times, meaning players receive 0.3% cash back for slot and video poker action. This requires a daily swipe at the Boarding Pass machine.
What’s Different?
It is unusual to find a stand on 17 game at a locals casino. Green Valley Ranch offers such a game. Only Rio, M Resort and Red Rock offer this type of game in the locals market. This game also has double down on any two cards and after splitting, as well as surrender. The $50 double deck game in high limit is no different than the $10 one offered on the main casino floor.
The Inside View
Green Valley Ranch is easily the best casino resort in the Henderson locals market. It offers the only stand on 17 game east of the Las Vegas Strip. It spreads six decks and has double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game is spread with a $5 minimum where the game hits soft 17. For $10, a double deck game is spread where double down before and after splitting is allowed.
Blackjack at Green Valley Ranch was once much better than it is now. Players were able to re-split aces at both the double deck and shoe games. That all changed in 2015. There are no games at Green Valley Ranch or any other Station Casinos property that permits re-split aces these days.
Blackjack players at Green Valley Ranch may need a break from the action. The video poker at Green Valley Ranch is among the best in Las Vegas. There are more than 20 machines that return at least 100% with perfect play and five coins wagered. Some of these games go up to the $1 denomination. This is a good way to step away from the table. Points at these games return one-quarter of the regular video poker games on the Boarding Pass card. For this reason, we recommend not using a players card at these games. If you prefer to give action to the 99.8 percent games, use your card without any reservations.
