Suncoast is a Boyd Gaming resort. It is located in Summerlin, a master planned community on the far west side of Las Vegas. It sits on land once owned by Howard Hughes. Suncoast was originally developed as a Coast Casinos property. The company was sold to Boyd Gaming in 2004.
Suncoast opened on September 12, 2000. It is a locals casino that appeals to residents of the age restricted community on Sun City Summerlin. Suncoast hosts 432 hotel rooms. It also offers amenities typical of a locals casino in Las Vegas. These include a poker room, bowling alley and movie theater.

The double deck blackjack game has a $25 minimum bet. It is dealt as a pitch game. Players may double down before and after splitting. The house edge is 0.4% at these tables.
There is a six-deck shoe game. This game is shuffled by a machine but it is not continuous. The minimum bet is $5. Double down before and after splitting is permitted. The house edge is 0.65%.
BConnected for Frequent Blackjack Players
BConnected is the players club for Boyd Gaming. It is used at Suncoast, Sam’s Town, The Orleans, Gold Coast, Main Street Station, Fremont and The Cal. BConnected is a generous program for blackjack players. It is common to get mailers and offers on the BConnected website for free hotel rooms. Offers tend to include only the casino where the action took place although there are some exceptions. A free bet equal to one average bet is common in the mailers.
What’s Different?
There really isn’t anything different about Suncoast. It is a bland casino with no especially good blackjack game. The $5 limit is common among locals casinos. The shoe games do not offer surrender, something common at most locals joints. The players club is more generous than some other locals casinos because Boyd Gaming is a national company that owns more than one establishment.
The Inside View
Suncoast is a very boring casino. The rules and limits are better at Suncoast than at the Strip and the same as downtown and other locals joints. It is a bit nicer than other locals casinos. It offers two high end restaurants; Salvatore’s and SC Prime. Comps earned while playing blackjack and other games can also be used for movies and bowling. Guests that are 55 and older seem to receive better comps than the younger crowd. You can get away with counting more at Suncoast than other places because they are not expecting it. It is far less sweaty than Station Casinos properties are.
